Personalization Guidelines

Your words are the heart of your keepsake. Whether you’re writing a love letter, preserving family wisdom, or creating a tribute, we want to help you craft a message that will be treasured for generations. This guide will help you create personalization that’s meaningful, well-formatted, and perfectly suited to your keepsake.

Understanding Our Personalization Process

At Found Memory Artifacts, we treat your personalization with the same care we put into crafting the physical keepsake itself:

  • Exact Reproduction: We reproduce your text exactly as you provide it, including spelling, punctuation, and formatting
  • Quality Review: Every order undergoes a careful review to ensure print quality and legibility
  • Privacy First: Your personal messages are kept strictly confidential
  • No Auto-Correct: We don’t automatically correct or change your text—what you write is what gets created

Important: Please proofread your personalization carefully before submitting your order. Because each keepsake is custom-made specifically for you, we cannot accept returns or offer refunds for errors in text that you provided. Take your time—these words will last a lifetime.

Character Limits and Space

We can use up to 2 sheets of parchment, sometimes 3 but remember we print them on 5.5×8.5 pieces of parchment, think you standard sheet of paper, laid out like a placemat, split down the middle the more you write the smaller the font size :):

💡 Writing Tip: Quality Over Quantity

You don’t need to fill every available character. Sometimes the most powerful messages are the briefest. Focus on what truly matters rather than trying to maximize space.

Formatting Guidelines

Line Breaks and Paragraphs

  • Use line breaks to separate paragraphs or create visual structure
  • Press Enter/Return to create a line break
  • Avoid excessive line breaks that create too much white space

Punctuation and Special Characters

  • Standard punctuation (periods, commas, apostrophes, quotation marks) work perfectly
  • Ampersands (&), dashes (—), and common symbols are supported
  • Emoji and special Unicode characters may not display correctly—test before submitting
  • Avoid excessive punctuation (!!!!!!) unless it’s genuinely meaningful

Capitalization

  • We reproduce your capitalization exactly as written
  • ALL CAPS can be effective for emphasis but can be difficult to read in long passages
  • Mixed case (alternating caps) is generally hard to read and not recommended
  • Traditional capitalization rules create the most elegant appearance

What to Include in Your Message

For Love Letters & Romance

  • Specific memories that matter to both of you
  • Why you love them (beyond “you’re beautiful”—be specific)
  • Hopes and dreams for your future together
  • Inside jokes or meaningful phrases
  • The date or occasion you’re commemorating
Example:
“Sarah, Do you remember that rainy Tuesday when we got lost in Portland? We ended up in that tiny bookstore, and you read me poetry while the rain poured down. That’s when I knew—this is my person.I love how you see the world. Your curiosity, your kindness, the way you make ordinary moments extraordinary.

Here’s to a lifetime of getting lost together.

Forever yours,
Michael

January 15, 2026”

For Children & Future Generations

  • Life lessons you want to pass down
  • Family stories and history
  • Your hopes for their future
  • Values that matter to your family
  • Why they’re loved and special
Example:

The world will try to tell you who to be. Stay true to who you are.

Love,
Dad

Your 3rd Birthday, 2026”

For Memorials & Tributes

  • What made them special
  • Specific memories that capture their essence
  • Lessons they taught you
  • How they impacted your life
  • Their legacy

For Achievements & Milestones

  • The journey, not just the destination
  • Challenges overcome
  • People who supported you
  • What this achievement means
  • Looking forward

Best Practices for Great Personalization

1. Write from the Heart

Authenticity resonates more than perfection. Your genuine feelings matter more than flowery language.

2. Be Specific

Instead of “I love everything about you,” try “I love how you always remember to call your grandmother on Sundays.” Specific details make messages more memorable and meaningful.

3. Include Context

Dates, locations, or occasions help anchor your message in time and give it context, especially for messages meant to be read years later.

4. Read It Aloud

Before submitting, read your message aloud. Does it sound like you? Does it flow naturally? Would the recipient recognize your voice in these words?

5. Consider the Future Reader

Imagine someone reading this years from now. Will they understand the references? Will the message still resonate?

6. Proofread Carefully

Check spelling of names, dates, and special words. Have someone else read it if possible. Remember: we’ll create it exactly as you write it.

Using Our Message Library

If you’re not sure how to start, we offer a curated Message Library with thoughtfully written templates for various occasions:

  • Browse by Category: Find messages for specific occasions or relationships
  • Use as Inspiration: Read examples to spark your own ideas
  • Personalize Templates: Start with a template and make it your own
  • Combine Elements: Mix and match parts of different messages

Remember: Templates are starting points. The most treasured keepsakes contain your own words and authentic feelings.

The Review Process

After you submit your order:

  1. Automated Check: Our system checks it, but real person reviews it.
  2. Quality Review: A team member reviews for legibility and print quality concerns
  3. Clarification (if needed): We’ll contact you if anything is unclear or potentially problematic
  4. Production: Once approved, your keepsake enters production
  5. Final Quality Check: Before shipping, we verify that your personalization is accurate.
