The art of gift giving, everyday we do so many things, and sometimes we give a simple gift and not even notice the dramatic effect it has on another persons day.
Ever said “Good Morning”, with a warm smile on your face to a total stranger?
Ever open the door for a random person or persons?
What about being extra nice and polite to the server at a restaurant?
Gift Giving you do it everyday for complete stranger who you may never see again, but you truly may have brightened that persons day more than you will ever know.
My favorite thing to do is say “Good Afternoon!”, to every person I pass at the park, believe me I get some strange looks from some people. Most people smile back and say Hello or give you a smile and a head nod, I bet you they may walk the entire park and not get acknowledged by another person, but at that moment we engaged, I am sure they felt better, and the park and day looked brighter.
Giving is the simplest and most wonderful thing to do, it makes you feel alive, it brings up emotions of happiness, joy, and all those wonderful hormones that are released each time you do the simple act of gift giving.
Gift giving doesn’t have to entail an actual gift, a simple act of kindness, respectfulness, or just being a human being makes the world a better place and makes the harmony of the universe shine.
The Good book(the Bible) is filled with many scriptures both in the Old and New Testament about gift giving, one of my favorites is Proverbs 11:24-25 “One gives freely, yet grows all the richer, another withholds what he should give, and only suffers wants. Whoever brings blessing will be enriched one whom waters, he himself will be watered”
Gift giving is the greatest gift we can give to ourselves and to others, physical gifts cost money but simple acts of kindness cost nothing, make you and the recipient feel great, and make the world a better place.
Go out today and say Hello, or flash a simple smile at someone today, you may not always get a positive reaction, but when you do, the karma in the universe will increase, the world will look a little brighter and you will glow from the amazing feeling of the simple act of gift giving.
